Salford council moves office "to save £0.5m"
Salford council has announced that it will save £500,000 by moving more staff in Swinton town hall. Council staff working at Minerva House in Swinton will relocate down the road to the Civic Centre. "This will free the council of half a million pounds a year in future rent and running costs," said a spokesperson. Salford say the efficiency savings will minimise impact on frontline services. It will be "council staff instead adopting a new smarter way of working with fewer desks", a press release from the council claims. 'Hot desking' - the practice of having staff share desks instead of having their own - will help the council to fit more staff into the town hall, with eight desks for every 10 people. Cllr David Lancaster, deputy leader of Salford City Council said: "We are making a huge saving by no longer using Minerva House, whilst at the same time minimising any impact on frontline services. Across the whole council we are committed to finding smarter ways of working that will ensure we reach the tough savings targets for the year ahead." The move is expected to be completed by the end of May Source: Salford Council Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
