Appeal for Witnesses after Motorcycle Collides with Police Van - Higher Broughton
A 16-year-old boy is in hospital after he was in collision with a police van.
Just before 11pm on Saturday 13 September 2008, a police officer reported he had been in collision with a motorcycle.
The incident happened at the junction of Great Cheetham Street East and Bower Street, Higher Broughton.
Officers attended and found a 16-year-old boy with arm and leg injuries. He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he is described as being in a critical but stable condition.
He has fractured his arm and suffered an unstable fracture to his leg.
It is believed the van, which was on routine patrol, had just turned onto Great Cheetham Street East when it came into collision with the motorcycle. The motorcycle then collided with a parked car.
In line with procedure, Greater Manchester Police’s Professional Standards Branch has referred the matter to the IPCC.
