Youths throw brick through bus window in Salford
At around 5.10pm on Saturday 4 February 2012, the bus was waiting at a bus stop on Churchill Way, Pendleton by the junction of Paddington Close when it was approached by around ten to 15 youths.

A number of them threw snowballs at the vehicle while others walked to the back, lifted the engine cover and pressed the emergency stop button, meaning the driver could not drive off.

The gang continued to throw snowballs with one of them throwing a brick through one of the windows.

They ran off towards Liverpool Street.

The youths are described as being between 13 to 15 years old and were wearing dark tracksuits.

No one was hurt.

Inspector Dave Henthorne from Salford Central Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack that intimidated passengers, some of whom were children, and has left them clearly shaken by their ordeal.

“Throwing snowballs may be seen as some as an innocent act but when they are thrown at vehicles containing passengers, this can be classed as intimidating. But to follow this up by throwing a brick through the window is nothing but mindless and completely irresponsible and it is lucky no one was hurt.

"I would urge anyone who was on the bus who saw what happened or anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact police. The information you supply will remain strictly confidential.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 5084 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
