'Local' armed robbers strike in Walkden
Men with local accents have broken into a man's home and confronted him in his living room.

At around 8pm on Monday 2 January 2012, it is believed that three men walked through the kitchen door of a home just off Old Clough Lane, Walkden and confronted the 55-year-old victim.

Two of the men were armed with knives and another held a spade.

They demanded money and the victim struggled with the man holding a spade before they all escaped.

Two sets of car keys and a handbag was stolen.

The men are described as being white, between 5ft 10in tall and 6ft tall, of slim build and believed to be in their late teens. They wore dark hooded tops and covered their faces.

All spoke with local accents.

Detective Constable Horace Bell from Salford CID said: "Clearly the victim was put through a terrifying ordeal and thankfully he was not injured when he challenged them.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen three or four men running away from the area or witnessed anything suspicious to contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
