Thousands of pounds worth of clothes stolen during a robbery in Salford.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at an industrial estate on Ellis Street, Lower Broughton on Thursday 22 July 2010.
At around 12.45pm the 42-year-old victim, who had been conducting business in the area, was dragged from his van by a group of men. One of the offenders was armed with a crowbar and the victim was punched in the face and thrown to the floor. The offenders then got into his van, a blue Iveco Daily, and drove off down Ellis Street. The van was later recovered but the stock inside had been stolen. The offenders, believed to be five or six men, were all wearing balaclavas. Police Constable Michelle Ingham from the robbery unit said: “The victim has reported being followed on a number of occasions leading up to the robbery and believes this is because of unfounded rumours that he carries large amounts of cash. This is not the case and the robbery has severely affected his job as he is now scared to carry out further business in the area. “If anyone has any information about the men responsible for the attack, I urge you to call me.” Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5250 of the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
