Armed men raid Lower Broughton shop
Masked offenders threatened staff with axes during a robbery on a shop in Salford.

Shortly after 3.30pm on Wednesday, 11 August 2010, two masked men wielding axes and a block of wood entered Cooltrader Frozen Foods, Mocha Parade, Lower Brougthon.

They smashed open the tills, stole a quantity of cash and left. No-one was injured in the incident but staff were left shocked.

A pick axe handle was later recovered from a garden on nearby Sussex Street.

Both offenders were described as white, between 5ft 11in and 6ft tall with slim builds and wearing black hooded tops, black tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and balaclavas and gloves.

Detective Constable Rachel Smith of Salford CID, said: ⿿These robbers are clearly prepared to threaten violence so they are dangerous men and need to be caught.

⿿It was a busy time of day at the shopping parade so I am confident someone would have seen what happened. If anyone saw men acting suspiciously at the parade, or later on or near Sussex Street, then I would urge them to get in touch.⿝

Anyone with information is asked to call Salford CID on 0161 856 5351 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
