Man glassed in Salford nightclub
A 30-year-old man was almost blinded when he was glassed in the face in a busy Salford nightclub. The victim was at the Bijou nightclub on Chapel Street on Saturday 19 June 2010 and about 2am, he went to the toilet. As he returned, he walked back through the dance floor and a small corridor that leads to the bar, and three men pushed his friend. The victim turned round and one of them smashed a glass into his face. Door staff ejected the three offenders, but their details were not taken. The victim was taken to hospital suffering from cuts to his face and left eye. He had to undergo surgery, which saved his eye. One of the offenders is described as being dark skinned, possibly Asian or mixed race, 5ft 9ins tall, with a shaven head and of stocky build. He was wearing a white T-shirt. Another is described as being white, bald or with a shaven head and he was wearing a blue T-Shirt with a thin red and thin white stripe over the chest. The third is described as being dark skinned, quite short, and was wearing a dark coloured T-Shirt. Detective Constable Gareth Mark, of Salford CID, said: "This is a serious assault in which a man could have been blinded in his left eye from a callous and unprovoked attack as he returned from the toilets. "I'm sure there were people in the club that night who remember what happened. Somebody must know who these offenders are. If you remember anything at all, please call us." Anyone with any information should call Salford CID on 0161 856 5351 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
