27-year-old charged over indecent images
A man has been charged in connection with indecent images being shown to schoolgirls in Salford.

27-year-old Dominic Bowkett of Malta Street, Manchester, has been charged with 27 offences including showing an indecent image, making an indecent image of a child and possession of extreme pornography.

Bowkett is due to appear at Salford Magistrates' Court on Thursday 26 August 2010.

The charges relate to incidents in February 2010 where a man showed images on a mobile phone to schoolgirls as they were walking home from school in Pendlebury.

Does anyone know what happened in the end? I assume by the lack of information anywhere that the case was dropped and never made it to court.

I feel sorry for him. I knew him. He was a fantastic scoial worker. I remember when he was having difficulties with one family in particular from Salford who vandalised his car and then his house got burgled and his computer was stolen. I don't really care how many offences he was charged with. If you can confirm that nobody has evr been wrongly accused via a justice system than I wll take this all back. This incident just confirms for me that generally social care/ social work is a thankless job! As for the ice cream van comments how inappropriate!!

to those who feel sorry for him well take my word for it he did do those things as my daughter was approached by him and we have to deal with that and carry on. it makes me feel sick that my daughter was that near to him and my daughter feels scared.

my freinds and i grew up with Dom in Hereford before he moved to Manchester. Take it from us he's guilty as sin. He always had a dirty mind and mouth. And yes he always talked about one day getting an Icecream van and he wanted to call it 'Uncle Dom's Pendlebury Pudd's'!!!!!

Well he's not going to be shifting many ice creams at this time of year is he?

So is this man now an ice cream man? No! Is it at all possible that the people accusing this man made it up. How about this person who knows him to sell ice creams. Is that true? No! I think that that comment alone prooves that this man could be subject to allot of viscious lieing. I wonder how it must feel for him, I imagine it hurts.

An Ice Cream van man, can you back this up are you just scaremongering, who would employ a man with convictions against children in a job like this.

this man displayed indecent images to my innocent daughter, too many people these days champion the offender and not the victim!!!!

You'd think if he's getting done for possession of images as well, there'd be some tangible evidence such as photos, or files on his hard drive or phone. Even if you delete images off your hard drive, they can still be retrieved and the case could well be the same with a phone.

27 charges?. Sounds like he is going to struggle

this man has been charged with 27 offences. Not one, where it could easily be argued it was an accident/mistake. In order to be charged the CPS must think there is reasonable enough evidence to secure a prosecution. He would not have been charged if there were not quite compelling evidence. social worker.

I agree with care worker! The media have a knack at only highlighting what they want the public to know. As care worker says social workers are extremely vulnerable to allegations. I don't have all the information about this case so I reserve judgement. But i will say this, it never ceases to amaze me , the lengths that families will go to to seek revenge on social workers. They blame social workers for all of the problems within their families. Maybe these families need to look a little closer to home and the time that they spend plotting revenge on social services departments would be better spend on sorting themselves out!!

This man has been given no opportunity to defend himself. Why is everyone tarnished with the same brush? When did the right to a fair trial disappear?

Are you saying he is innocent, Care Worker?

This man has had his car vandalised & received hostage & death threats in connection with his work. He has also had his home broken into & a computer with private information on it stolen!!!!!. Social Workers are extremely vulnerable to allegations and abuse by the very nature of their work which often involves making decisions which do not go in the favour of a client. It is a sad reflection of our world today when one assumes a person to be Guilty before they have a chance to defend themselves. Whatever happened to Innocent until proven Guilty !!!!!!!!!!!!!. Care Worker
