By: Tony Flynn Salford's totem pole takes another step towards being restored to it's former glory with the news that Kevin Cranmer has arrived back in Salford along with his cousin Edgar Cranmer and Bruce Alfred, who has in the past worked with the totem poles original carver Doug Cranmer. The men all from the first nation Namgis tribe will be working on the totem pole until it's completion in July, cedar wood has been brought over from Canada to replace the damaged parts, whilst the totem pole will be painted in traditional first nation colours. The totem pole will be taken to London this Thursday to be displayed in Trafalgar Square as part of the Canada Day celebrations, then brought back to the Lowry outlet mall overnight for the restoration work to continue. Here Kevin and Bruce talk about the restoration work whilst Councillor Steve Coen explains the future plans for the totem pole.
