Totem master meets the Mayor
by Tom Rodgers

Here's some footage of Kevin Cranmer meeting Salford's representative to the wider world, Mayor Councillor Roger Lightup in the Mayor's office at Swinton Civic Centre.

An altogether successful fact-finding mission for Kevin has left the Salford Totem Pole in safe hands for the new year, and beyond.

Canadian cedar trees, needed to plug the gaps in the wooden totem will have to be shipped from across the pond.

Removing the paint from the repainted totem is another big challenge, but with the aid of some specialist sanding equipment, and with the say-so of the British Museum for the restoration project, serious progress is expected when Kevin returns to Salford in 2010.

Happy New Year to everyone involved in the project, may you have a peaceful and prosperous journey through this year to the next.
