Second Time Lucky For Salford’s Junior

Second Time Lucky For Salford’s Junior

Salford super-featherweight Stephen Foster Junior has vowed not to waste his second chance at winning a world title.

The 28-year-old, son of Steve "The Viking" Foster, will fight Nicky Cook for the WBO crown on December 6 - almost a year after missing out on the same belt when he was beaten on points by then-champion Alex Arthur.

Foster had beaten Alex Arthur to the canvas in the 11th round, but was unable to finish things off before losing on the scorecard.

The stylish box-puncher, who set up the meeting with Cook by beating Jason Nesbitt in Birmingham last week, said: "It's fantastic to be fighting for the world title again and this time I won't let the opportunity pass me. It won't be case of third time lucky, this time I'm going to win it.

"I came so close to beating Arthur last year and I'm still kicking myself about it now. If only I had followed up when I hurt him in the 11th round with some more big punches then I could have been crowned champion."

"Anyway, that was a year ago and I've moved on, learnt, and improved and I'm ready to give Cook a real fight for his title. He had better be prepared for a long hard fight because the title is coming back with me."

The Foster-Cook fight headlines a packed bill at London's ExCeL.
Lightweight Amir Khan, who was heavily criticised amongst boxing fans for his shock defeat to Breidis Prescott, makes his comeback against Ireland's Oisin Fagan.

Also in action is former Olympic champion Audley Harrison, who takes on fellow heavyweight Martin Rogan.
