Veivers delighted with improving Reds
Reds Head Coach Phil Veivers was suitable pleased with his side’s performance against Challenge Cup holders Wigan Warriors in the last of the pre-season trial games. With the Reds running out narrow losers there is no doubting who was the happier of the two coaches after the game.

“We upped the ante on last week’s game again. Yeah, I’m really happy with that,” said Veivers afterwards.

“We spoke about pride in our performance before the game and we kept reiterating that trial games are supposed to test us. We have changed structures throughout the Club which takes a while and I don’t think we will be the complete article until Round Six or so.”

Veivers was also happy with the way he side defended generally in the face of stern Wigan pressure.

“We showed great scrambling defence. We held them out on three occasions where we did really, really well to do so. Now we have 10 days until Castleford. At the moment we have full fitness and no injuries. Happy days!” he concluded.
