Salford versus Wakefield match preview
by Nigel Roberts
This Sunday sees the curtain come down on another disappointing season for the Reds when they play host to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. The Reds will be looking to finish the season in style and gain revenge for the 36 – 6 hammering they received at Wakefield back in March. The Reds have named their 19 man squad for the game which is: Ratchford, Broughton, Gibson, Talau, Tyrer, Sneyd, M. Smith, Cashmere, J. Smith, Neal, Sibbit, Littler, Swain, Owen, Leuluai, Parker, Jewitt, Sidlow, Boyle. Skipper Mal Alker has failed to shake off a neck injury so will not be able to make one last appearance for the Reds before retiring and joining the coaching set-up at the Willows. Also missing out through a wrist injury is Karl Fitzpatrick who is leaving to join rugby union outfit Preston Grasshoppers as a skills and conditioning coach. In what is sure to be an emotional game for both fans and players alike we will also be seeing the last of stalwart Stuart Littler, Ian Sibbit, Willie Talau, Luke Swain and Phil Leuluai. Littler and Sibbit have been released with Leigh a likely option for the pair. Talau is retiring, whilst Swain and Leuluai are going to play in France. In the Wakefield line-up will be Salford’s new hooker Tevita Leo-Latu and centre Sean Gleeson who is another Reds target for next season. Nigel's Prediction: Away Win. Kick-off 3pm Sunday.
