Double signing as Reds swoop for Wigan pair
by Mark Bright
Feka Palaesinou and Phil Bailey will be joining Salford's summer signings at The Willows next season. The Wigan Warriors duo join five other new signings at the Salford club. 30-year old Phil Bailey pikced up a two-year deal. The Australian will join he-of-the-upronouncable surname (Feka Palea’asina) from Wigan at the end of the season. The prop, known for his ball-carrying abilities, signed a three-year deal two weeks ago, but due to league rules, can only now be revealed. Both Bailey and Palea'asina came from smalled Australian teams to the UK; 28-year-old Auckland born Feka started off with the Auckland Warriors before arriving as a signing for the Wigan Warriors. The 22-stone bruiser of Samoan hertiage joins Luke Patten, Chris Nero, Stephen Wild, Tevita Leo-Latu and Vinnie Anderson at The Willows for the final season, before upping sticks and heading across the City to the Reds’ new home next to the M60 and The Trafford Centre. Feka told the club: “I’m really looking forward to joining Salford. I know some of the other guys who are coming such as Tevita Leo-Latu and Vinnie Anderson really well and we’re all talking about next season and we’re pretty excited about getting Salford up where they should be. “The Reds have struggled this season because of injuries and that can happen. Next season though I think we’ll have a bit more depth and we’ll certainly be a different proposition.” Former State of Origin star Phil Bailey completes the double deal. Bailey joined Wigan two seasons ago, and has scored 13 tries in 52 games for the Warriors. He will now become the seventh new face at The Willows for the final season as the Reds revamp before they move into their new home at Barton. Photo: Iafeta (Feka) Palea'aesina
