The Great Salford Swim gets a boost
The British Gas, Great Salford Swim was boosted today with the news that the Great Scottish Swim planned for August 21st was cancelled.

Competitors were given the option of a refund or a chance to swim in the Salford event.

The reason for the cancellation was given as that with the unusually high levels of blue-green algae currently still above the acceptable limits in the loch.

With the Scottish water temperature likely to drop significantly in the coming weeks, there is not a suitable date where the safety group could be confident that the event could be staged in a fully safe environment.

The Salford swim will go ahead on September 26th as planned.
