   Irlam Hornets 54 Rochdale Mayfield 12

North West Counties Division 4 Irlam Hornets played at Rochdale Mayfied and came away 54-12 winners. Irlam started strongly with two tries in the opening six minutes, and played some brilliant rugby in the first half, going in at half time 32-0 up. The second half got a little bit scrappy with Mayfield putting up a good fight. Said the Rochdale coach Leon Ashworth: "The visitors were bigger, stronger and faster in every department and it was a real test of character and indeed testament to the never say die attitude of the team, that they got on the score sheet at all." Hornets' Man of the Match could have been any one of the 17 but it went to Brad White closely followed by John Brookes and Lee Solsbury. After the game, the Mayfield coach praised Irlam, saying they were the best team they had played all season.
