Salford Police webcast: Anuj Bidve appeal, Salford scams and more
by Tom Rodgers
In the first police webcast of 2012, Superintendent David Wilkinson gives us a run-down of the top priorities for your local police force. After the senseless killing of Indian student Anuj Bidve on Boxing Day 2011, Salford police are re-appealing for information on the weapon - believed to be a small handgun - used to shoot the 23-year old. There is a £50,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of Anuj's killer. Please call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Supt Wilkinson confirmed that there will be an increased police presence on the streets of Ordsall until at least April 2012. In other news, an illegal car-parking ring that's netted scammers over £1 million has been busted by Salford police. Officers are urging drivers to be careful where they park, especially for concerts or on matchdays. Finally, a lottery scam intimidating elderly people in Salford has been stopped, with a man charged for fraud. If you need to speak to police, call 101 in non-emergencies. If there is a crime occurring, always dial 999. Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
