Staff Picks - Part 8 : Salford Local History - Cross Lane
In this video Tony Flynn gives a fascinating insight into the Salford of yesterday and is just one of many such gems he has filmed for SalfordOnline

In the first of a four part video, we travel down Cross Lane (and memory lane) recounting the fascinating history of this one street in Salford.

We see Cross Lane from Jean's Corner at the corner of Broad Street looking down towards the Salford docks, and how unrecognisable the same area is now.

Pendleton Unitarian Church, a beautiful building in its own right, with a wealth of Salford history, has long gone. It was to be replaced on its site by yet another McDonalds fast food emporium, whilst The Windsor Theatre, or Salford Hipp as it was better known, is now the site of the Thorn Court high rise flats.

Look out for the next instalment in the series this week.

Thanks to Tim Ashworth at Peel Park Local History Library for the loan of these beautiful photographs.
