Andy Burnham, Ed Balls backed by Salford MPs
by Tom Rodgers
Up for grabs from today foward is the leadership of the Labour Party. Members of the political party, which will be in opposition to the Coalition government, can vote from today (September 1st) on the man or woman they think will lead them back into government. Up to four million people, according to former Deputy Leader Harriet Harman, are eligible to vote. Appearing yesterday in Manchester were Hazel Blears' favourite, Leigh MP Andy Burnham, Diane Abbott and bookies choice Ed Milliband. They were joined on a panel discussing health in the North West by Worsley and Eccles South MP Barbara Keeley, who herself is backing Ed Balls. The London-centric media seem to be focusing on Milibands One and Two and with the most foreign-policy experience David is looking like he will clash with brother Ed for the top spot in Labour politics. Here we interviewed both Hazel Blears and Barbara Keeley to find out who they are backing for the top job. Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
