Complimentary planting is an important principle of organic gardening.

Irene's Swinton garden is chock full of plants that work well together, seed one another or, like clematises Josephine and Napoleon, give one another gentle encouragement.

She also shows us what can be done with vegetables in a small plot 1 foot across and 2 foot deep, growing sweet peas, broadbeans, beetroot, strawberries and potatoes.

The recipe to keep your hosters slug-free is also shown here.

Lastly, using what you already have or what you can pick up for free is a key part of organic gardening.

And two new hips caused a difficulty for Irene Scowcroft, but also presented her with fresh ideas for her garden.

The disabled toilet seat becomes a geranium planter and as for the boot sourced from a skip, well, you'll have to wait and see...
