Video: The Monton Lighthouse - Part 3

If you have passed along the Bridgewater canal at Monton you could not have failed to see the Monton Lighthouse, not only a local landmark but a marvellously eccentric piece of architecture, a lighthouse thirty six miles inland!

The owner is "Barnacle" Phil Austin, and over the next few weeks he'll tell us all about the construction of the lighthouse, or is it a four story storage unit?

In this episode you'll hear an interview with "Barnacle" Phil as he describes his inspiration for the building along with archive footage of construction of the lighthouse, taken by Phil and his friends several years ago.

He also tells of the various building regulations that he had to overcome before he could commence the building of this iconic landmark.

What a really nice chap, I'm so envious of him, you have done Monton proud with the Lighthouse, why not do guided tours for charity?, I would gladly pay to see the view. Transforming wasteland into a beautiful landmark you deserve all the praise you get.
