Video: Sneak Peek inside Ordsall Hall - Part 1
by Tom Rodgers

On Ordsall Lane in Salford M5 stands the 14th century Ordsall Hall. The black and white half-timbered manor house is one of the oldest standing structures in Greater Manchester.

Since February 2009 the Tudor Hall has been hidden under a gigantic white sheet as it receives a multi-million pound renovation from architects, builders, artisans and experts.

Everything to the cornices on the ceiling to the floorboards of the Main Hall to the working kitchen being are restored to their original quality.

The Tudor hall brings ghosthunters from all over the country as it's famed to be variously haunted by the ghost of a little girl and The White Lady (both captured on webcam, naturally).

With a tour on offer to a group of renovators, history experts, and Salford's Mayor Councillor Roger Lightup, SalfordOnline was invited along to get a sneak preview of the restoration work going on inside.

With forays upstairs into the living quarters we got to see John Radcliffe's personal quarters, the kitchen pit (purpose still unknown) and the behind-the-scenes restoration work being lovingly completed for the Hall's re-opening in 2011.
