  Salford Children's Book Awardsby Tom Rodgers Here's the video from last week's Salford Children's Book Awards, attended by over 100 local schoolchildren. We interviewed a selection of children including Elizabeth from Irlam and Cadishead Community School, and Jack Smith from St George's RC High School, to talk about their favourite novel from the shortlist of six books. Amongst the shortlist were 24-Hour Party People screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce for Cosmic. His previous novels Millions and Framed were both adapted for the screen, making him a popular choice on the day. However it was young Sally Nicholls who won the top prize with Ways to Live Forever, her first novel, written at the tender age of 23. Also interviewed is the veteran writer Elizabeth Laird with her book Lost Riders, which gained a lot of fans for its unusual storyline.
