Ordsall Community Cafe - a first look
by Tony Flynn and Tom Rodgers

Situated in the heart of Ordsall on Tatton Street is the Ordsall Community Cafe, this building does an amazing job for the people of Ordsall, talk about it does what it says on the tin.

Run by Stacy Cass, three part-time staff and a team of dedicated volunteers they provide a marvellous service to the local community, and I was amazed at the diversity of services that they provide.

They have a hairdressers, yoga classes, a community gardening group, chiropodist, weight watchers, computer classes, creative writing classes, an excellent cafe providing good affordable food with children's menus, a womans refuge, rooms for hire and well basically everything you could think off.

Stacy told me that they have a small but thriving Russian/English teaching class to provide for the local Russian community, no I did not know there were any in Ordsall which is well attended by children and their parents.

I would advise anybody to call into the cafe just to see the wealth of diversity that is on offer and to see what a great job Stacy and her staff do, a credit to Ordsall.

Really good positive stuff, these people are angels and deserve loads of credit for the work they do in the community, if you live local drop in, the Prince of Wales is visiting the Lad's club tomorrow, so see him and have a bacon butty with Stacy, failing that ignore him and have two bacon butties.

Having been in the Cafe' several times I agree with Stacey everyone is so welcoming and friendly, a great place to have something to eat, a cup of tea and a chat. Keep up the good work. Susan
