Filmed and Edited by Tony Thornborough Ralph Milner, better known as The Oldfield Lane Doctor, had a practice on what is now Oldfield Road and he was apprenticed to the famous Dr Taylor, a surgeon and bonesetter. Dr Milner had a somewhat tragic life: his first wife Mary gave birth to three children who all died in infancy and she herself was to die young. Milner married his wife's cousin Annie Lythgoe who gave birth to sixteen children - of whom eight were to die young. Dr Milner died in 1882 aged sixty four and several of his young children are interred with him along his second wife Annie. Father Salvatore Carruccio has the distinction of being the only Roman Catholic priest to be buried in Weaste Cemetery, the others being mainly buried at Wardley Cemetery. He was born in Naples, Italy in 1846, and after deserting from the army for being a pacifist he trained to become a priest. He came to Salford taking up duties at Salford Cathedral. Ordained in 1876, Father Carruccio served at several Lancashire Churches before coming to All Souls RC Church, Weaste in 1897, and became a man highly thought of by his parishoners. He died of bronchitis in December 1903 aged 57.
