Salford Ladies Temperance Society win Manchester Pride
by Tom Rodgers

Those buttoned up ladies who shout through megaphones to persuade homosexual men and women to give up their lifestyle were rewarded at Manchester Pride.

Winning best community float at the festival known by locals as 'Gay Christmas', the Salford Ladies United Temperance Society entertained the huge crowds who turned out in support of Pride 2010.

The "ladies" are a touch masculine, firstly bringing to mind Little Britain's unconvincing transvestites. But the joke's on us.

It's all a bit of fun, shown in the unfortunate acronym of the Temperance Society (S.L.U.T.S).
