Iraqi Election Photographs
Photos by Albert Spiby

Here are some extra photographs taken by our community photographer, Albert Spiby of the scenes in Lees Street, Swinton of the Iraqis who had turned up to vote in their country's election.

The Vanguard Mill was being used as a temporary polling station for the Iraqi communities in the North West.

Despite some complaints from local residents of the influx of voters into the Swinton area affecting traffic, good natured scenes were in evidence throughout the three days.

Oh, for "legal reasons" huh? Not that you're being deliberately vague?

There was nothing good natured about what I saw. I can't say on here for legal reasons, but they were pretty abusive to say the least.
