Deputy Leader of Commons - Barbara Keeley MP - Part 4 of 5

by Tom Rodgers

In this video, MP for Worsley, Barbara Keeley, answers the charge that her promotion to a more senior position in the Labour Party will conflict with her casework representing her consituents in Parliament.

Current issues affecting the Worsley, Walkden and North and West Salford areas include transport issues like improvements to railways and stations, and the widening of the M60 which could have severe consequences for the quality of life of people living nearby.

Ms Keeley explains that whilst the deputy leaders position does take more energy and focus, it also afford the opportunity to see senior ministers to put her cases about her constituents across.

She also mentions the "new ways of working" which her new position could allow her to implement, for example, hearing Private Members Bills on a Wednesday instead of a Friday (when most MPs have to return to their constituencies).
