Cleansing diets and fasts no solution for long-term fat loss
Extreme diets usually end in frustration, and can be dangerous because most are unbalanced and seriously lacking in nutrition say diet experts, Dian and Tom Griesel. US cardiology researchers recently reported that fasting can lower cholesterol levels along with the risk of developing coronary artery disease and diabetes. They also found that a 24-hour fast could boost the release of natural human growth hormone (HGH). Previously, the American Heart Association studied religious groups that regularly fast one day per month and found they have lower rates of heart disease. “Many people have tried the Master Cleanse, Fat Flush, Lemon Detox Diet, Liver Detox Diet, and Cabbage Soup diet, in an effort to lose weight,” say boomer generation health experts Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, authors of the new book TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust (April 2011, BSH). “If you can stick with them, you do lose weight, but much of it is lean body mass. This leaves them desperately craving food, and frequently leads to binging and more body fat than they started with.” “Extreme diets usually end in frustration, and can be dangerous because most are unbalanced and seriously lacking in nutrition,” says Dian. “The associated fluid losses often result in upset electrolyte balance, resulting in headaches, fatigue, upset stomach, anxiety, bad moods and usually dehydration.” “All this is not only unhealthy but also unnecessary,” adds Tom. “When you eat a diet consisting of the foods our species consumed as we evolved, and eat them the way we historically consumed them, your body is ‘detoxing’ on a daily basis and special fasts are not needed. The TurboCharged program is designed around natural patterns of eating, circadian rhythms and natural living that are encoded in our DNA based on our evolutionary history.” Source: The Investor Relations Group, USA Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
