ASBO's for teenage girls in Little Hulton
City West and Greater Manchester Police have secured a two year Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) against two teenage girls – bringing an end to the fear and misery they inflicted on the community in Little Hulton and Walkden Demi Agoglia, 14, and Ellie Foulkes, 15, were part of a group of youths who have caused nuisance and annoyance to shop keepers in the Ellesmere Shopping Centre, Walkden; a restaurant on Manchester Road West; The Gateway Centre, a community hub in Smith Street, Walkden; and to businesses and residents who live and work in the Little Hulton District Centre. The incidents took place between 13 March and 19 April 2011, and included: * Throwing shopping trolleys around the car park and lighting aerosol cans at the Ellesmere Shopping Centre. * Throwing books around the library, intimidating customers, setting off the fire alarm and kicking the doors at The Gateway Centre. * Being abusive and intimidating to shop owners and residents working or living at Hulton District Centre. City West took action against Miss Agolia of Barry Crescent, Little Hulton, Miss Foulkes, of Peel Lane, Little Hulton, after they had received numerous complaints from businesses and residents affected. A catalogue of evidence from witnesses enabled the social landlord to take action against the perpetrators. Magistrates in Manchester granted City West an ASBO against Agoglia and Foulkes at a hearing on Tuesday 20th September. The ASBO prevents the teenagers from: * Acting or inciting others to act in a manner causing or likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household in Salford. * Associating in a public place with a group of two or more people in a manner causing or likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. * Associating with each other in a specified area. * Entering the Gateway Centre, Ellesmere Centre or Little Hulton District Centre except when with a family member over the age of 21. The ASBOs will last for two years. Matt Jones, Head of Housing at City West Housing Trust, said: “The positive outcome of these cases has been welcomed by local businesses and residents who live in the Little Hulton and Walkden area. “We hope this case may help to encourage more reporting of anti-social behaviour by local people and show that this sort of behaviour, and lack of respect for people and their property, will not be tolerated. “It will also show offenders who cause problems for the local community will be tackled, not only for the crimes they have committed, but for the impact their anti-social behaviour has on communities.
