City West customers and staff unleash their inner voice
City West is helping its customers and staff unleash their inner voice following the launch of the City West Speakers Club. Run by City West, the club has now been inducted into the National Association of Speakers Clubs and is the only club to be affiliated to a housing association. The club, which has 20 members, provides a friendly and supportive environment for people to sharpen their public speaking skills and practice techniques for effective communication. City West staff and customers are able to learn from each other and talk their way to success. Becoming a more confident public speaker can help in the business environment, when preparing for an interview, a social occasion or just to help you feel more confident about yourself when speaking. Chris Fray, Secretary of the City West Speakers Club, said: “There are many ways to learn to speak in public and anyone can do it. Our club is based on friendly support and encouragement, while offering a great opportunity for members to improve our skills. “It’s great that a housing association is able to run its own speakers club, all of the members have been able to grow in confidence and learn a new skill, while having fun.” Photo: Judith Kerwick - Service Excellence Manager at City WestSpeaker Club members and City West Housing Trust tenants Joan and Terry Mumford.
