Councillor Lancaster visits Barton Village, Eccles
The Deputy Leader of Salford City Council, Councillor Lancaster, visited City West’s £14.3 million regeneration of Barton Village in Eccles.

Kemball House, Craunton House, Cremer House and Ewood House in the centre of Eccles will undergo external and internal improvement works which includes the installation of the innovative EcoPod heating system.

Energy efficient doors and windows will be fitted, structural repairs undertaken, insulated render repairs fitted, grounds landscaped and communal areas refurbished at the 50-year-old blocks.

Councillor Lancaster met with City West’s Director of Asset Management, Colette McKune, and City West’s Head of Investment and Regeneration, Nigel Sedman.

After looking at the plans and models for the next phase of City West’s multi-million pound investment to improve 12 high rise blocks in Eccles, a tour of the Barton Village site was conducted. This included a look at the works in progress on Engels House and a look at the finished work in the show apartment.

Councillor Lancaster was especially impressed with the high specification of the products going into the properties along with the layout and quality of living space the new properties will have at Barton Village.

Whilst work progresses at Barton Village, work is set to begin on the next phase of the high rise programme.

The plans for the blocks will be part of the wider regeneration of Eccles town centre.

Not another councilor skimming off from a council funded project surely? Take some more photos at the Community (NOT) Stadium...

Try Lancaster and Disaster as rhyming couplets, this deserves a Private Eye type bubble caption as in "This is what I call a cheap cover up" Or "One skims or two?" a building trade term. Over to you readers.
