Over the last 12 months a range of partners including Salix Homes, Salford City Council and the Urban Regeneration Company have been working together to give Springfield Road a much needed facelift. £54,000 was raised in funding to turn the piece of waste ground, which was enclosed in hoarding making it a prime spot for anti social behaviour, into a useable and maintained space for the whole community to use. Gone are the hoardings along the perimeter of Trinity Way, Springfield Road and the walkway down to river off Trinity Way, drug paraphernalia and overgrown trees and shrubs. In their place are repaired brick walls, tidy hedges and seeded ground, which is now a safe environment and is used by dog walkers and residents who want to relax in a clean outdoor space. Feedback on the changes has been excellent, with reduced crime and anti social behaviour reported in the area as a direct result of the changes. The site will stay ship shape thanks to Urban Splash who have agreed to maintain the area in the long term until they use the land for future development. Source: Salix Homes.
