State of the art facility is base for Salix security services
A new CCTV control room that will improve security for residents and help reduce crime and anti- social behaviour is now fully operational. The state of the art control room is at the heart of a CCTV system that receives high quality images from 218 cameras covering all the internal and external areas of high-rise blocks and the surrounding public spaces managed by Salix Homes. The control room is the centre of operations for Salix Homes’ 1st Response team, which provides a comprehensive security service to residents. The CCTV cameras are monitored by staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so that the team can provide a rapid response to incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour, working in conjunction with Greater Manchester Police and Salix Homes Anti Social Behaviour Team . 1st Response also provides a range of other services to residents such as a secure door entry and concierge service for customers living in high-rise apartments, a responsive emergency cleaning service and a welfare check service for vulnerable residents. Councillor Peter Connor, Salford Council’s lead member for housing, said: “The introduction of this state of the art control room demonstrates the commitment of the council and Salix Homes to make neighbourhoods safer. CCTV systems deter offenders and reduce the levels of crime and anti-social behaviour. This, in turn, leads to a feeling of greater security for residents.” Sue Sutton, Salix Homes Director of Neighbourhood Services, added: “1st Response has received consistently positive feedback from customers for the services that they provide. This enhancement to our CCTV system strengthens these services even further. It means that residents can be confident that incidents in our neighbourhoods can be dealt with swiftly and effectively.” Photo: A Salix Homes 1st Response Officer monitors cameras in the CCTV control room.
