Search is on for the unsung heroes of West Salford
City West Housing Trust has launched its inaugural ‘Make a Difference’ Customer Awards to discover the unsung heroes living in West Salford. If you know someone who has made a real difference in your community, is a customer of the housing association and lives in the west of the city, then City West wants to hear from you. In particular City West is looking for those people who are really making a difference – those people who go the extra mile to make your neighbourhood a better place to live. Your unsung heroes can be nominated in one of the following eight categories: Community involvement –those people who go out of their way to make a positive contribution to improve their neighbourhood and who encourage others to do the same. Children and young people – for the younger members of the community who give hope and optimism about the future. Community development - for people who play a vital role in improving communities by introducing new initiatives that have a positive, long-term impact. Inspiration – for the everyday people who do exceptional things. Outstanding contribution – for those individuals who are making an exceptional contribution to the community where they live. Community fundraising – for those people who take community fundraising to the next level and, in doing so, make a financial contribution which benefits other customers. Tenants’ and Residents’ Association of the Year – for those groups of local volunteers who get involved in local community issues. Older people’s award – for those people who make a difference to the lives of our older tenants. Paul Carhart, Director of Communities at City West Housing Trust, said: “There are so many people who work tirelessly to make our communities a better place to live, but often the work they do goes unrecognised. “We have launched these awards to say a big thank you to all of these unsung heroes. If you know somebody who is going that extra mile and fits one of the categories then we want to hear from you.” For a nomination form please contact Dani Bennett on 0161 605 7607 or visit our website www.citywesthousingtrust.org.uk/making-difference. The closing date for entries is 31 August. The winners will be announced at our annual Customer Conference in October.
