GMP police on the beat of fashion
Officers will be swapping their uniforms for high-end clothes as part of a fashion show for charity.

They will be joined by Lancashire cricketers at The Mercure Hotel in Piccadilly where they are hoping to raise money for Greater Manchester Police’s Metropolitan Division’s charity of the year, Beat (Beating Eating Disorders).

The charity was chosen in memory of Chief Inspector John Egerton's daughter Emma who died tragically aged 18, in November 2010.

The fashion show includes live performances, singers, a DJ from Manchester Global Radio, raffle and exhibitors from the fashion, food and health industries. Clothing supplied by Debenhams in Stockport, New Look, Marks & Spencer’s, Snow and Rock and high end boutiques will be modelled.

Naomi Aktuna, from the Metropolitan Division, is organising the event she said: “So far this year the division has taken part in a whole host of activities to help raise money for this worthwhile cause. Events have included The Hogwarts Ball, cake sales, marathons and much more. The fashion show is just one more strand in our effort to raise money for Beat who work so hard to support those affected by eating disorders.

“Tickets are £15 and you will automatically go into a raffle draw. There is also an option to buy a limited number of VIP tickets which are priced at £30. Included in the price are front row seats, goody bag and the opportunity to have your photo taken with the Lancashire cricketers.”

Fundraising efforts for Beat by officers from GMP, Emma’s family and friends has so far reached £21,000 of their £25,000 target. Such is the generosity of those involved to continue supporting Beat in providing vital frontline services as part of Emma’s legacy.

Anyone wanting to buy a ticket or to get more details about the event should contact the Beat fundraising team on 0161 856 4104 or email: beat@gmp.police.uk. You can also donate to the charity by clicking on the following link below.
