GMP prepare for Rugby Super League Final
Greater Manchester Police is preparing for the Rugby Super League final, which is being hosted at Old Trafford Football Ground on Saturday 8 October 2011.

Event Commander, Chief Superintendent John Graves has recorded a video message for fans coming to Greater Manchester for the final.

Chief Superintendent John Graves said: "Greater Manchester Police is delighted to be involved in this fantastic event once again - for several years now we have been policing this fixture and it is set to be a good day for everyone.

"We want fans and visitors to Old Trafford to enjoy themselves and my officers will be on hand to ensure they can do that safely.

"I'd advise anyone travelling to the game to plan their journey well in advance and to leave themselves plenty of time to get here. Park sensibly, and think about your surroundings and keep yourself and your valuables safe.

"An on-street drinking bye-law exists in Trafford and fans are not allowed to drink alcohol on the streets around the stadium. Once inside the stadium, while there will be plenty of places where fans can get food and drink, they will not be allowed to have alcohol anywhere within the sight of the pitch - officers will be supporting grounds staff in enforcing those rules.

"Rugby League is renowned the world over for its principles of honour, pride and respect. This is a family event and we want every fan to enjoy it. Last season's final was the safest yet and we all want to go one stage further this year."
