Residents offered FREE property marking
Residents in east Salford are being offered the chance to have their valuables marked to help protect them from being stolen. Police community support officers (PCSO) from Salford East Neighbourhood Policing Team are working alongside Salford City Council and knocking on doors in the Trinity area, asking residents if they would like their property marked free of charge. The forensic property marking system SelectDNA, helps protect valuables such as laptops, TV’s and ipods from theft. The solution contains a unique DNA code that links each item to the individual household and doesn’t damage the marked property. PCSO Andy Shaw said: “The solution is easy to apply, virtually impossible to remove and above all, a proven deterrent to thieves and I hope it helps residents feel more secure in their homes. “It is also worth reminding people that one in three burglaries happen when doors and windows are left open or unlocked, even when you’re at home. Therefore to reduce the chances of being burgled, residents should keep all vulnerable doors and windows locked.” To report crime call police on 0161 872 5050 or for more information visit www.gmp.police.uk.
