Bogus Officials Active Again in Salford Area
Distraction Burglars target 91yr old In Irlam

Between 1320hrs-1330hrs on Wednesday 31/03/10 an unknown male attended the address of a 91yr old resident in Irlam pretending to be working for the Gas and Electricity Board. After allowing the male in, the resident sensed something was wrong and went to the front door,where he discovered the door security chain had been put on. The resident asked the male to leave and picked up the telephone to dial the Police. Immediately, the male lunged at the victim and he was struck in the face by the handset held by the victim. The male made off taking the telephone with him.Seconds later two more unknown offenders appeared at the top of the stairs in the dwelling they too left immediately, making off up the street.The offenders are described as, male 1) white, aged 18-20yrs, 5'8'' tall,dark hair, slim build, wearing an open necked shirt and blue anorak. Males 2and 3)white, mid 20s, 5'7''-5'9'' tall,medium build, one with dark hair, both wearing dark clothing, one wearing a baseball cap with a dark coloured pattern on it.Police are appealing for any information about this matter.If you do have any information please ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
