‘Dedicated’ Fire Service worker short-listed for top award
GREATER Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is celebrating after a member of staff was short-listed for a top British-Asian award. Yasmin Bukhari, Bridging Cultures Co-ordinator, will attend the Eid Milan and Asian Dispora Achievers Awards at the Sheridan Suite in Manchester this Saturday (November 12). The award ceremony will see hundreds of prestigious guests come together to celebrate the cream of British-Asian culture alongside a series of traditional and cultural activities. She was nominated in the ‘Uniformed’ category following her work promoting fire safety messages amongst the hard-to-reach and vulnerable communities of Greater Manchester. Speaking after hearing about the nomination, Yasmin said: “I was really surprised to hear that I’d been nominated, and even more so to learn that I’d made the short-list. “I’ve always worked with BME communities so it’s a real honour to be acknowledged in this way and I’m looking forward to the evening.” Peter O’Reilly, Director of Prevention and Protection, said: “Yasmin’s nomination is a fantastic achievement and one that she should be rightly proud of. “It’s very pleasing to see her work with BME communities, businesses, agencies and partnerships be recognised in this way. She is a dedicated professional and a real asset to the Service.” Photo: Yasmin Bukhari, Bridging Cultures Co-ordinator Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
