Beware of bogus callers
Greater Manchester Fire service have issued a warning to people to be vigilant in the case of unexpected callers. We always send a warm up letter before any door knocking exercise and our standard message to occupiers is this: “The personnel calling at your address will be wearing uniform, and will be in a Fire Service vehicle. They will carry photographic identification cards, which they will always ask you to check before they will enter your home. If you wish to verify the identity of our staff as and when they call, you should telephone Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters on 0161 736 5866. This number can also be found on the reverse of identification cards carried by all personnel. Remember - Never allow unexpected callers into your home unless you are sure who they are and if in doubt - keep people out!” Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
