Firefighters from the class of 1991 awarded for 20 years service
Firefighters from the class of 1991 reunited during a Long Service and Good Conduct Award ceremony at the fire service Training and Development Centre in Manchester.

The event brought the uniformed members from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and their families together with colleagues for a ceremony led by Deputy County Fire Officer Jim Owen, Chairman of the Fire Authority Councillor Paul Shannon and Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Warren Smith.

The Fire and Rescue Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medal is awarded on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen to everyone who has ‘rendered long and meritorious service’ as members of Fire Services across the UK.

The evening was a huge success; with all present making the most of the event catch up with colleagues… which was a long time coming for some who hadn’t seen each other since joining Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service more than 20 years ago.

Chairman of Greater Manchester Fire Authority Councillor Paul Shannon said: “This is such a proud event for those who have served the fire service for 20 years, and their families. Collectively the recipients of the Long Service and Good Conduct Award, that was presented to them by Lord-Lieutenant Warren Smith on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, have more than 400 years service and experience between them; which they no doubt will share with the younger members of the Service.”
