Salford crew attend Arndale Nandos fire
A fire broke out in the kitchen of Nando's restaurant inside Manchester's Arndale Centre last night, causing around 300 people to be evacuated. Three crews from Manchester Central and Salford were called at 7.23pm last night when around 50 people were dining in the restaurant. A flashover on one of the kitchen grills ignited the filters and ducting in the ceiling, causing residual fat inside the extractor fan to catch fire, setting off sprinklers. Around 300 people in the surrounding area were evacuated. Crews used cutting gear to help them tackle the flames and try and limit the damage the fire could cause. Watch Manager Ian Spaven said: "The grill flashed over, meaning a lot of our work was salvage work inside the property. Once the blaze was extinguished, there was heavy smoke and water damage." There was some water damage to two shops on the lower mall of the Arndale beneath the restaurant. Source: GMF. Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
