Broughton crew attend fire in gospel church
A fire crew from Broughton needed breaking-in gear to gain access to a fire in a church on Bury Old Road. The church, believed to be the Heaton Park congregational church, is being converted into flats but was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The Broughton crew were called to the church on Victoria Avenue, near to the Beehive pub at around 8pm on Tuesday evening to extinguish a ground floor fire. Crews needed thermal imaging cameras and rigged up indoor lighting to put out the small fire. No-one was hurt in the incident.
