Broughton fire crew attend house fire
Firefighters had to gain entry to a house in Cheetham last night after smoke was seen coming from an upstairs window. Fire crews from Manchester Central and Broughton were called to a terraced property on Sandsend Road just after 7pm. Wearing breathing apparatus they used a ladder to gain entry to the property through an upstairs window. The fire was quickly located in the kitchen on the ground floor and using water hose reels they managed to put the fire out before it spread to the rest of the house. The fire started after food had been left on the cooker unattended - there was no one in the property at the time of the fire. Source: GMF.
