Swinton fire sees man inhale smoke
A man was treated for inhaling smoke after his cooker was set alight in a fire last night.

Sindsley Court is a sheltered housing project for elderly people in Swinton.

Fire crews were called to the City West housing development at 6.10pm on Thursday evening after responding to a fire alarm in the property.

The culprit was found to be a pan of food which had overheated, setting off the flat's fire alarm.

The man was given oxygen therapy by the attending firemen but declined paramedic or hospital treatment.
