Fire And Rescue Service deal with incidents across Greater Manchester
SINCE 6:00pm this evening Brigade Control has received an increased number of calls to incidents and reports of fire following sporadic and isolated pockets of civil disturbance across Greater Manchester, and are working hard to manage our response to these incidents.

Incidents have been focussed mainly in Salford and Manchester City Centre. Fire Crews are working closely with colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to deal efficiently with fires that have been started deliberately ensuring the safety of fire crews and the public.

Crews have successfully dealt with an incident at Miss Selfridge on Market Street and are currently dealing with an incident at Lidl supermarket on Fitzwarren Street in Salford. Crews are also dealing with a derelict property fire in Heywood and we have four crews at a flat fire in Oldham.

Activity is being coordinated well ,with the majority of fires being brought quickly under control and fire crews are being redirected to deal with other incidents.

Crews are facing very difficult working conditions and as a result of one localised disturbance one of our fire engines has suffered some minor damage to a window.

There have been no reported injuries to any fire service personnel.
