Three seperate fire incidents in Salford
Fire crews in Salford were kept busy over the weekend dealing with three seperate incidents.

At 00:13 hours on Monday 26 July 2010 Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire involving a domestic property on Canon Hussey Court on Islington Way in the Trinity area of Salford.

Three Fire Crews, from Salford and Manchester Central Fire Stations, were mobilised and on their arrival at the block of flats found a fire involving a pan of food on a cooker within one of them; leading a man to safety.

A Fire Service Trauma Technician treated the man for the effects of smoke, however he declined hospital treatment.

The fire was tackled by Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus, using a Hose Reel, and started when cooking was left unattended

On Monday 26 July 2010 at 15:47hrs Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire involving a domestic property on Henley Avenue in the Cadishead are of Salford.

Three Fire Crews, from Irlam and Stretford, were mobilised to the terraced property where they found a fire involving a pan of food.

The fire caused damage to the pan pf food and started when cooking was left unattended.

A 34 year old man suffered from the effects of smoke and was treated by a Fire Service Trauma Technician before being taken to hospital by Ambulance staff.

At 05:21 hours on Sunday 25th a total of six fire engines were called to the report of a fire in commercial storage warehouse on Duncan Street, off Oldfield Road, Salford.

Thirty fire fighters used breathing apparatus, thermal imaging cameras, jets and hosereels to search the smoke logged building, which is approximately 50m x 50m - locating and extinguishing a fire in some of the property stored within the warehouse.

Firefighters are likely to remain at the scene for some considerable time - ensuring the fire is completely extinguished.

An investigation into the cause of the fire, by specialist fire investigation officers commenced at the early stages of the incident and remains ongoing.

Good to see that the grand old tradition of making chips on a stove then presumably nodding off is being carried on in Salford, some habits never die out.
