Firefighters set to put a shine back onto cars
The Firefighters Charity National Car Wash 2010 is taking place this Saturday 20 March at your local fire station. With the winter weather now growing to a close, this weekend promises to be a great opportunity to wash away the dirt from your vehicles.

The events will also be an opportunity for people to have a chat with local firefighters about keeping their homes safe from fire, whilst their car is being given a spring clean.

Of course, there is a very serious reason as to why this event is taking place at Fire Stations across the UK, raising much needed funds for the Firefighters Charity. In return for cleaning your car, firefighters will be asking for a small donation in order to show your support.

The day will be a chance to brush up on your home fire safety and drive away with a spotlessly clean car whilst helping the charity support your firefighters in the event of illness or injury.

County Fire Officer Steve McGuirk said, “The National Car Wash Day is a great opportunity for us to raise money for a worthwhile cause which has benefited many firefighters and their families over the years. On Saturday we hope to see thousands of gleaming cars on the streets of Greater Manchester”.

So if you have a dirty car following our harsh winter then why not take it to a fire station near you and let the firefighters clean it for you!

Editors note:
This fundraising event is an opportunity for drivers to have their cars shampooed whilst learning more about the potential dangers of fire in the home. There is also the chance to make a charity donation upon exit, with all funds going to The Fire Fighters Charity - The Charity aims to raise approximately £9 million per year which helps over 17,000 people by providing assistance to serving and retired fire personnel and their dependants.
