Greater Manchester Firefighters return from Haiti
Following the deployment of the UK ISAR (International Search and Rescue) to the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake the teams are expected to arrive back in the UK today (23/1/10) The 9 Greater Manchester firefighters who have been working as part of the team will be arriving back at Manchester International Airport from London Gatwick. On their arrival they will be greeted by their families and colleagues from the service including Chief Fire Officer Steve McGuirk who said It is with great pride that I welcome back safely the members of our service to their families. They have demonstrated tenacity, professionalism and courage in taking part in the UK national response to help the people of Haiti. The successes they have achieved are truly commendable in a time of such devastation and suffering and our thoughts remain with the people of Haiti as they continue to try and rebuild their country. I am sure our team members will now be looking forward to a well earned rest and spending some quality time with their families and friends who have shown so much support for their loved ones over the last 10 days.
